Ingredients -
Fruit - Apples and Raspberries (You can mix up your fruits how ever you like)
Honey - to sweeten if you prefer but not necessary
Lemon juice
I like to use Apples as a base, here in Southland it's Apple country and we have apple trees growing wild along the roadsides from the original English settlers throwing their apple cores along the roadsides.
Apples brown very easily once peeled and you don't want brown fruit leather! Begin with a big pot 1/4 filled with water, add a couple of lemons halved and the juice squeezed into the water with the lemon halves so you have a nice acidic water bath for your peeled apples.
Peel, core and chop your apples into your lemon water bath.
Once you have finished preparing your apples, remove the lemon halves and any excess water leaving a little extra water in the bottom of the pot. Cook your apples over a medium heat until they are soft and squishy.
Use a stick blender or food processor to make a smooth paste.
Add some honey to taste.
Raspberry coulis -
Cook your raspberries until runny.
Pass through a sieve to remove the seeds.
Return to the heat and reduce to thicken.
Add an equal amount of your prepared apple puree to your Raspberry coulis.
Add some honey to taste.
Spread your apple puree on your dehydrator silicone sheets and use a spoon to add some of your raspberry mix.
Dehydrate until dry and the surface is not sticky.
Cut into strips and roll.
Store in Jars for extra long keeping.
