MELON Cucubitaceae cucumis melo

Rockmelon -mixed seed-breed your own landrace
From - Leila Macbeth
Harvested - 2022

Annual, I'm purposefully crossing whatever open pollinated cultivars I can get- I want to breed a 'Naenae landrace rockmelon' that will handle Naenae (Wellington) climate with no coddling.
This seed is just the first cross-your mission is to only collect seed from the ones that thrive and taste great!
In several seasons you'll have melons perfectly suited to your place-within reason, they do need a decent amount of heat.

Rockmelon - Sweet Granite
From - Hester Jackson-Scott
Harvested - 2022
Earlier maturing variety suited to slightly cooler climates.
Grown from commercial seed in Rotorua
Genetic Diversity - 5 plants
Small to medium size fruit, flavour greatly depends on the weather at the time of harvest, Hot + Sun = Sweet, lots of rain makes the fruit bland and watery.
Cross pollination - Unlikely

Watermelon - Large
From - Andrea Graham
Harvested - 2024
8-12kgs each, 1-2 fruit per vine
